Restorative Dentistry

To treat a cavity Dr. Sefcik will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and then “fill” the area on the tooth where the decayed material was removed. Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse (such as from nail-biting or tooth grinding).

Crowns

Crowns

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a tooth to cover the tooth to restore its shape and size, strength, and improve its appearance. The crowns, when cemented into place, fully encase the entire visible portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Dr. Sefcik may recommend that you undergo a dental crown procedure for one of several reasons: you have a particularly weak tooth that needs to be held together or requires a bridge; you have a tooth that is extremely discolored; or you wish to have a crown placed for cosmetic reasons.

Root Canal

Root Canal

Need a root canal? Don’t be anxious. Despite what you may have heard or read online, the goal of a root canal isn’t to cause you immense pain, quite the opposite! Instead, the goal of the procedure is to save a tooth that is severely infected. When you undergo a root canal the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha.

Bridge

Bridge

Dental bridges literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two or more crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap — these two or more anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth — and a false tooth/teeth in between. Dental bridges are supported by natural teeth or implants. We are excited that we are partnered with Ballard Labs who provide BEAUTIFUL bridges and crowns.

Dentures

Dentures

Complete dentures replace all of your teeth. They sit on top of the gums, as opposed to dental bridges that are anchored to existing teeth. In addition to replacing all the teeth, they also replace any gum tissue and jaw bone that has shrunk down as a result of not having any teeth.
